This is in sync with the 1986 education policy, and ICSE provides education only through the English medium. ICSE is a private board for class X. There is no option of appearing in Class XII for ICSE students, and they need to enrol in CBSE or State Boards.
The subjects in ICSE are categorized under three groups. The first is Group 1, which has compulsory subjects: English, Second Language, Science Application, and SST (History, Geography & Civics). There is then the second group where you need to choose two or three subjects. The subjects under group 2 are Mathematics, Science, Commercial Studies, Economics, Foreign Language, Environmental Science and Classical Language. The last group is Group 3, from which you would need to choose any one subject like Computer Application, Arts, Music, Dance, Cookery or something similar.
