What Is The Full Form Of IAS?

The full form of IAS is Indian Administrative Services. This is a branch of government job which is associated with administrative services. So, if you work under IAS, you are directly working with the government. IAS officers are often called the backbone of Indian bureaucracy, and they hold a key position in the government. IAS can be a part of district administration, central secretariat, state secretariat or cabinet secretary. As an IAS, you are supposed to look after general administration, law & order. You also have to work with DM, SDM and other such officers. In some cases, PSUs also appoint IAS to manage the units. They also play a pivotal role in implementing policies and fund management.

If you would like to work for IAS, then you need to appear for the UPSC exam. The competition is high, so you need to prepare in the best possible way. You can appear in the UPSC exam if you have a bachelor’s degree and if your age is over 21 years. The general category candidate can appear in the UPSC exam six times, and there are some relaxations available for SC and OBC candidates.
