What Is The Full Form Of ISRO?

The full of ISRO is “Indian Space Research Organization”. ISRO is the space agency of the Government of India and is situated in Bengaluru, India. It is said to be the world’s largest Space Agency. The primary objective of this agency is to increase space exploration for the development of the country while researching planetary exploration and space science.

ISRO’s History

In 1962, The Indian National Space Research Committee came into existence under the guidance of the Atomic Energy Department by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It was formed with the immediate recognition of the requirement for space research by the scientist Vikram Sarabhai. Later, INCOSPAR became ISRO. In 1972, the Government of India established a Department of Space and a Space Commission, including ISRO, under these two agencies.

Plans and Achievements of ISRO

  • This agency subsequently formed three rockets.
  • The first satellite was introduced in 1988, and later it created more advanced satellites. These satellites include Radar Imaging Satellite-1: introduced in 2012, a joint Indian French mission, and the Satellite SARAL introduced in 2013.
  • In 1988, ISRO introduced the first INSAT.
  • The first satellite named Rohini was to be introduced in space by an Indian-made launch vehicle on 18 July 1980.
  • ISRO plans to launch astronauts into space by 2021, etc.
