BDS full form is Bachelor of dental surgery. It is India’s only certified and recognized highly skilled dental course. It is a 5 undergraduate curriculum that equips students to join the prestigious position of dental science & surgery.
Dental students who want to work in public or private practice are required to complete a four-year undergraduate program leading to a Doctor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree. Students in the biological sciences often choose this major as a second or third choice after the MBBS.
During the BDS program, students are required to complete a year-long paid internship that is also part of a rotating curriculum, during which time they might choose to complete two or three rotations in various departments.
Emergency Medicine, Public Health Dentistry, Oral Pathology, Oral Surgery, and Dental Histology, etc are just a few of the many specialties that students might pursue. They’re getting training and education in dentistry, too.
Admission to BDS program at the university level requires a Class XII NEET score of at least 50%.
In order to graduate, students need to have earned a minimum of a 50% average in chemistry, physics, and biology.
It is not common to take a specialized BDS entrance exam because most universities just look at applicants’ NEET (National Eligibility and Merit-based Entrance Test) scores.
