ECR Full Form

What Is The Full Form Of ECR?

ECR stands for “Electronic Challan cum Return” which is an electronic version of the Challan cum Return (ECR) form used by employers to submit their statutory contributions to the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) in India. The ECR form is used to submit the employer and employee contributions to the EPF, Employee Pension Scheme (EPS), and Employee Deposit-Linked Insurance (EDLI) Scheme.

The ECR form is mandatory for employers who have 20 or more employees and are covered under the Employees’ Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952. The form needs to be filed on a monthly basis and the submission deadline is the 15th day of the following month.

The ECR form contains details of the employer, employees, and the contributions made by them. It also includes details of the number of employees, their wages, and the contributions made towards the EPF, EPS, and EDLI schemes.

The process of filing the ECR form has been made electronic, which eliminates the need for physical submission of the form and helps to save time and resources. Employers can now file the ECR form online via the EPFO’s website, using their Universal Account Number (UAN).

The e-Challan cum Return (ECR) system also provides the facility to download the ECR, check the status of the ECR, and make corrections if required. Employers can also view the ECR filed by them for the previous months and can generate a consolidated ECR report for the entire financial year.
