Full Form of CV

What is The Full Form of CV

The full form of CV is Curriculum Vitae, which gives an overview of the person’s academic & professional background. This is considered to be a professional document which has the complete information of the person. The CV also has contact details, address, achievements, skillset and hobbies of the candidate. Many people also include a photograph and their passport number on their CV. In many countries, a CV is an employer-specific term needed when the candidate is looking for a job or higher education.

Difference Between CV & Resume

  • A CV has no page limit and includes professional experience in detail, whereas the Resume should not be more than two pages.
  • A CV has detailed educational and academic records, whereas a resume only has information on relevant experience as a summary.
  • CV is not role-based, and it is generalized, whereas a resume can be altered as per the roles.
  • CV is mainly used in academic jobs, whereas a resume is used for private jobs and government jobs.

Things To Reminder

While you are making your CV, ensure that you don’t include the salary background and the reason for leaving the last employer. You can include your photograph, but that is optional. If an employer needs additional information, you can provide it separately instead of having it on the CV. There is usually no limit on pages you can use in a CV, but people prefer a 2 page CV in some Commonwealth nations.
