What Is The Full Form Of CPR?

CPR stands for Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation, out of which the Cardio means heart, pulmonary means lungs, and Resuscitation refers to revive. CPR is a lifesaving method in emergency cases like heart arrest or heart attack. There are many causes of cardiac arrest, including drowning, suffocation, heart conditions, electric shock, and more. In CPR, the patient will be offered oxygen by mouth with compressions to his chest. Simply put, chest compressions keep the air rice blood flowing until respiration and heartbeat are restored. This method delivers oxygen to the patient’s lungs.

Why is CPR important?

Here is a list of some points to help you understand why the CPR process is important

  • Since CRP is performed within the first 6 minutes after the heart stops beating, it can keep a patient alive before medical treatment begins.
  • CPR is performed until the heat-beat returns to a normal rhythm, or the patient is pronounced dead.
  • It can be done by any specialist, including respiratory rescue and external chest compressions.
  • If blood circulation is cut off, brain injury or permanent death will develop rapidly. Therefore, it is important to maintain respiration and circulation until one can maintain blood flow by CPR method or seeks skilled medical help.
