SSC GD stands for Staff Selection Commission (SSC) General Duty (GD). It is a recruitment examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission for the selection of candidates for various posts in the government sector, such as Constable in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The SSC GD examination is conducted in two stages: the first stage is a written examination, and the second stage is a physical efficiency test (PET) and physical standard test (PST). The written examination is designed to test the candidates’ knowledge of general awareness, general intelligence, and elementary mathematics. It consist of multiple-choice questions and is usually held for a duration of 2 hours. Candidates who pass the written examination are then eligible to appear for the physical efficiency test and physical standard test, which assesses the candidates’ physical fitness and endurance.
The physical efficiency test includes a series of physical activities, such as running, jumping, and climbing, which are designed to test the candidates’ stamina, strength, and agility. The physical standard test, on the other hand, is used to assess the candidates’ height, weight, and chest measurement.
After passing both stages, the candidates are then required to go through a detailed medical examination, and a document verification process. Those who clear these stages are then eligible for appointment as constables in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and National Investigation Agency (NIA)
The SSC GD examination is considered to be one of the most challenging recruitment exams in the country, with thousands of candidates competing for a limited number of vacancies. It requires a high level of physical fitness and mental preparation and is a great opportunity for the candidate who wants to join the police force.
