DNA Full Form

What is The Full Form of DNA

The Full Form of DNA is Deoxyribonucleic Acid, and it is an organic compound with a specific molecular structure. DNA is found in all eukaryotic cells and prokaryotic cells. This is the only molecule that transmits hereditary material and genetic instructions to children. No two people can have 100% the same DNA. Even in the singular cellular organisms like bacteria & viruses, you will find DNA or RNA. If any cell contains RNA, then it is converted into DNA after the cell attaches itself to the host cell.

Responsibility of DNA

As mentioned earlier, DNA is responsible for transmitting all the genetic information from parents to children. It is often known as the building block of an organism. In addition, DNA is also responsible for producing protein. DNA is also used in forensic analysis, which is the stepping stone for modern-day criminology.

Discovery of DNA

During the research on white blood cells, Johannes Friedrich Miescher, in 1969. He was a Swiss biologist, but at that time, he could not identify the DNA structure. Years later, during the research, James Watson & Francis Crick discovered the double helix structure of DNA. There are also many different types of DNA. This includes A-DNA, B-DNA & Z-DNA.
