Bachelor of Science in Optometry is an undergraduate programme in vision care science. The course generally offers 4-year of duration (3 years for academic learning and 1 year for training) that is divided into 6 semesters. B.Sc Optometry Eligibility Criteria:

When you are seeking admission in the B. Sc Optometry course, you will have to make sure that you are meeting certain eligibility criteria. Only if you meet the below-mentioned parameters you will be able to get successful admission in this course:

  • You should have completed your 10+2 from a recognized college or university in India.
  • It is important to make sure that you have science as one of the major subjects in your 10+2, so preferably only Bi. P.C students will be able to get admission to this course.
  • The minimum age requirement for admission into B.Sc Optometry is 17 years.
  • You should have scored at least 45 to 50 percent marks in the 10+2 course.
  • You have to both merit-based and entrance-test-based admission process. So for being eligible to get admission to B. Sc Optometry, you should qualify the entrance test.

Process of Admission:

There are three types of the admission process for B. Sc Optometry in India. They are teh entrance test-based admission process, merit-based admission process, and counseling-based admission process. It is the college that decides which process of admission they are going to follow. For the merit-based and counseling-based admission process, it is very important to have good marks in the 12th standard. For the entrance test-based admission and counseling, scoring a good rank in the entrance test is important. So, you need to check all the details well on which admission process your college follows so that you will be ready for it.

Documents required for admission:

You will need several different documents for getting admission into B. Sc Optometry course. You need to make sure that you have all the below-mentioned documents ready with you for any type of admission your college offers you:

  • Get your mark sheets from 10th to 12th standard ready.
  • School leaving certificate and transfer certificate are mandatory.
  • Date of birth certificate
  • Your residence proof is another important document.
  • If you belong to any reserved category, then your reservation certificate is required.
  • If you are physically disabled, then you will have to submit a certificate of physical disability.

Lecturer: You can take up the role of a lecturer in the colleges or universities after you complete your B. Sc Optometry or you can complete your masters in this course and then find more options in colleges and universities as lecturer.

Optometrist: As an optometrist, you will have to examine the present condition of the patients eyes and suggest them the right solution. You will conduct some tests and then decide the right treatment.

Salary:

When the number of opportunities are so high, the package that you will receive is also going to be high.
