Panchmura Mahavidyalaya

Panchmura Mahavidyalaya is Bankura's third undergraduate college and the first rural degree institution, having opened its doors to students in 1965. Panchmura, a town in the Bankura region of India, is famous for its terracotta arts and crafts, hence the town's namesake.

The College is the realization of a long-held wish in the community to bring the advantages of higher learning to homes of low-income people, such as subsistence farmers, land laborers, and the homeless. Dr. Pasupati Mandal's selfless leadership made the vision of local educators.

People in the area, the vast majority of who are peasants, pooled their resources and worked tirelessly to construct the basic, essential infrastructure.
