Malnad College of Engineering, popularly known as MCE, was founded in 1960 under the sponsorship of the Malnad Technical Education Society, Hassan. Earlier, the college was affiliated with the Mysore University but now it is affiliated with the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. The institute became autonomous in the year 2007.
MCE campus is spread over 41.28 acres of land. It offers nine Undergraduate and six Post-Graduate programmes to students in the engineering field. Admission to Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) is based on the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Government of Karnataka under the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Apart from the B.Tech programme, M.Tech is also offered by Malnad College of Engineering based on the scores of GATE.
In 2007, the college got the ISTE award and is known as the best engineering institutes in India. It has the best placement records, offering several job opportunities to its student.
