Indian Institute of Management Shillong was established in 2008, Shillong, India. It was officially known as Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management Shillong, and it was the 7^th IIM established in India. IIM Shillong is an autonomous institute that is approved by AICTE and offers the highest salary packages across the country. It offers an Undergraduate degree course, Postgraduate degree course, and doctoral programs and executive programs in the field of Management including MDPs (Management Development Programmes.

The institute has been ranked 1^st by Time, ranked 18^th for IIMs by Outlook, and ranked 30^th for MBA by NIRF in 2020. Admission to MBA is based on the score of the CAT entrance exam; Admission to MBA is subject to a valid score in CAT or GMAT.
