Government Dungar College

The original name of what is now known as Govt. Dungar University, Bikaner was The Darbar School, in honour of Maharaja Shri Dungar Singhji. In the year 1873, Shri Dungar Singhji, the 20th king of the former state of Bikaner, founded The Darbar School. On September 25, 1912, his brother renamed the Darbar School that he had founded in his honour Dungar Memorial College.

In 1928, classes in higher education were first offered. The college's first degree programs began in 1937, and the school, then known as the College of Sardul, was officially split from the college the following year. In July of 1940, classes for the intermediate Science Faculty began with chemistry and physics. Science and law degree programs, as well as graduate programs in Hindi, Sanskrit, English, History, and Economics, were opened in 1942. Dungar College was the only five Rajasthan postgraduate institutions in 1951.
