JoSAA 2025 Update: Check for BTech Admission Guide & Counselling Process
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is expected to kick off the 2025 counselling process on June 3, as per current projections. An official announcement outlining the full schedule and round-wise counselling dates will soon be available on the JoSAA website: josaa.nic.in.
Initially, five main rounds of seat allocation will be conducted. If seats remain unfilled, additional special rounds may be organized by the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) to ensure maximum seat utilization.
Eligibility Criteria for JoSAA 2025
To participate in the seat allocation process, candidates must meet the following requirements:
For IIT Admissions:
- Must have cleared JEE Advanced 2025 and obtained a valid rank.
For NITs, IIITs, IIEST, and GFTIs:
Academic Requirements:
- Completion of Class 12 or equivalent in 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects.
Minimum Marks:
- General category students need to either secure 75% aggregate marks or be among the top 20 percentile in their respective boards.
- For SC/ST/PwD categories, a minimum of 65% marks is required.
Nationality:
- Both Indian and foreign nationals, including Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), are eligible provided they meet JEE Advanced 2025 requirements.
For PwD Candidates:
- Those applying under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category must undergo physical verification, which begins on Day 1 of the counselling process and continues through subsequent rounds.
Online registration and the selection of preferred institutes and courses must be done through the JoSAA online portal.
Institutes Participating in JoSAA 2025
JoSAA counselling includes seat allocation for the following institutions:
- 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)
- 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs)
- 1 Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST)
- 26 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs)
- 40 Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs)
Tentative Seat Availability (Based on 2024 Data)
In 2024, JoSAA facilitated seat allocation for approximately 59,937 seats, distributed as follows:
- IITs: 17,740 seats
- NITs: 23,954 seats
- IIITs: 7,746 seats
- GFTIs: 8,067 seats
The 2025 seat matrix will be officially released in June on the JoSAA website.
JoSAA 2025 Counselling Process: Step-by-Step Guide
- Registration & Choice Filling:
Candidates must register using their JEE Main 2025 details—including application number, candidate's name, mother’s name, and date of birth. OTP verification is part of the registration process before choices can be filled.
- Seat Allocation Rounds:
Seats will be distributed over five rounds, taking into account rank, preferences submitted, and seat availability.
Seat Acceptance Fee
To confirm a seat after allocation, candidates must pay a seat acceptance fee:
- General category: ₹35,000
- SC/ST/PwD candidates: ₹15,000
