1. Indian Institute of Technology

IIT Kharagpur, also known as IITKGP is a self-governing institute that was established in 1951. It has been ranked 5th for Law and Engineering by NIRF 2021. The institute offers UG, PG, PhD level programs and the academic facilities include faculty of biotechnology, engineering & Architecture, biotechnology, so on. 

2. Jadavpur University

3. Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology

IIEST is one of the oldest engineering institutes in India, established in 1856. IIEST offers BTech, MSc, MTech, MBA and PhD programmes in various disciplines. It provides admission through national level entrance exams such as GATE, JEE Main, CAT/MAT, etc. 

4. National Institute of Technology

NIT Durgapur was established in 1960 and is accredited by NBA. In 2021, it ranked 5th in all NITs and 29th for best engineering institute. This institute has 14 departments and the programs include MCA, BTech, MSc, MCA, MTech, MBA, and PhD. Admission to this institute is based on the scores of national or state level entrance examinations.

5. Institute of Engineering and Management

IIEM or Institute of Engineering & Management was formed as a private institute in the yeat 1989. Presently, IIEM Kolkata offers UG and PG level courses in management, engineering and science. It is the first self-financed engineering institute in the state. 

6. Heritage Institute of Technology

HIT was established in 2001 under Kalyan Bharti Trust which is a public charitable foundation. Formerly known as WBUT, it is accredited by NBA, NAAC and is approved by AICTE. Presently, it offers more than 15 courses at UG and PG levels. Some of them include Engineering, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, etc.

7. Narula Institute of Technology NIT-Narula

AICTE approved NIT was established in 2001, offering various courses in the stream of Computer Application, Engineering, and Management. It is one of the prestigious engineering institutes in the state.

8. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology

MAKAUT is a state university popularly known as the WB University. It has been ranked 158th among the engineering institutes in the NIRF Rankings of 2021. 

9. Haldia Institute of Technology

HIT is a private engineering institute, affiliated with the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology. It has been ranked 174th among all engineering colleges in the country. 

10. JIS College of Engineering

The newly established JIS College of Engineering offers 26 courses include BCA, BTech, MCA, MBA across Engineering, Science, BA, Computer Application and Humanities.
