1. Indian Institute of Technology

IIT is undoubtedly one of the best colleges in Telangana, and IIT Hyderabad was incepted in the year 2008. The college is directly under the government, and it was set up after receiving financial and technical assistance from the Government of Japan. The college offers engineering in 18 different domains.

2. National Institute of Technology

The next on the list is the National Institute of Technology, and it is also one of the elite institutes in the country. The foundation stone of NIT was laid by Jawaharlal Nehru in 1959, and it was the very first NIT in the country. It was formerly known as Regional Engineering College, and it was renamed NIT in 2002.

3. Indian Institute of Information Technology

Hyderabad is also home to IIIT, and it was set up in 1998. The college is run by a not for profit partnership between the private institute and the government. The college not only offers engineering in I.T., but it also has all other streams of engineering. It is also one of the best colleges for research.

4. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University

JNTU was established in 1972, and the university offers engineering courses and architecture, fine arts, and management courses. The engineering college under JNTU offers B.Tech in almost all major branches like aeronautics, biotechnology, automobile, I.T., Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical and Metallurgy. 

5. Osmania University

One of the oldest universities in the state is Osmania University. This university was established in 1918 by Nizams of Hyderabad. 6. Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology

CBIT is a private engineering college, and it is located in the financial district of Hyderabad. The college is affiliated with Osmania University, and later in 2013, it received an autonomous status. It was also among the very first private engineering college in the state.
