The institute was established in 1965 and is located at Agartala, Tripura. The best thing about NIT Agartala, it offers quality education in the field of basic science, management, engineering and humanities and offers various other programs at UG and PG levels.
Premier institute NIT Agartala is the first NIT in the country to have a Kendriya Vidyalaya within the Campus. It is the second top-most NIT in India to offer a dual degree programme in Physics. The engineering and computer science department also offers a three-year degree programme leading to the MCA course. It was ranked 70th for engineering in NIRF 2019.
